FLAMELESS COOKING COMPETETION

Cooking is not just an obligation but is a passionate profession undertaken by People across the world. Budding chefs of JIRS have definitely displayed and proven their talent in the Flameless Cooking Competition planned and recently conducted by the Interact Club.

The Interact club held a flameless cooking competition on the 18th of December, 2016 in connection with the orphanage visit planned on the 25th of December, 2016. This was the first event coordinated by the newly appointed Board of Directors. The event was a great success irrespective of the few shortcomings that came our way. The competition started as we planned at 10:00 in the morning in the JASE dining hall. 28 teams from classes 8th, 9th,10th and 11th enthusiastically took part in the event with all the teams collecting the ingredients as per their pre decided list. Wng.Cmdr. Ganesh Sharma, Chief Executive Officer was the chief guest. Mrs. Ambhuj Sharma, Public Relations officer, Mr. Rudra Kumar Sharma, Chief Operating Officer JIRS, Mr. Kalai Rajan (IBDPC) and Mr. Kushalappa were the accomplished judges for the event.

The competition went on with full energy and vibe for 1 and half hours. The competition came to an end with the judges tasting the creative dishes presented by all the teams. All the participants wore a proud smile on their faces while the judges tasted their dishes and congratulated them for their efforts. Though the Board Members had a tough time maintaining cleanliness and silence, they succeeded. Former President of the Interact club, Roshan Agarwal helped the new board in the organization of the event, without whom the event would not have gone with such ease. The Sodexo Department has been extremely helpful and supportive and at no time displayed signs of irritation despite being interrupted by the Board members for the procurement of ingredients several times. After the dispersal of all the participants, the custom of The Interact Club of recognizing and appreciating the efforts of its Board and identifying and analyzing areas where improvement was needed took place in the venue. The only area where improvement would have been appreciated was the wastage of ingredients, firmness of the volunteers and overall discipline. The Board considers it a lesson and has learnt from it. The overall image of the event was of an event that was fruitful and energetic. At the end of the day, the judges, participants and all the others associated it were happy and that was the biggest accomplishment of the event as far as the Interact Board is concerned.
