Harvard Model Congress – (HMC) - Dubai

Hosted at American university Dubai, Harvard Model Congress Dubai (HMCD) lasted for threes days, 19th, 20th, 21st. And we are proud to say that out of the 400 participants, two of its seven teen delegates of Jain International Residential School lead by Mr. U.K Seal participants have achieved the Certificate of Excellence, Akshay Keerti, and Mohan BT endowed with the Honourable Mention.
Unlike A Model United Nations (MUN) HMCD is divided into two blocks; Domestic and International Programs. Domestic Programs are restricted to the United States government, consisting of seven different committees, where delegates represent Senators and members of the House of Representatives. Unlike International programs which consist of four committees, delegates represent member nations of respective bodies.
The only committees not confined to any one government or organisation is the Press Corps, they are free lance journalists, with the ability to move from committee to committee without restrictions. Tasked with holding politicians accountable, keeping the public informed, and covering developing stories round-the-clock, they are their own bosses!
Founded in 2012, Harvard Model Congress Dubai is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to teaching high school students from across the world about the American constitution and inter-governmental politics.  HMCD is a government simulation run entirely by Harvard students dedicated to international relations, teaching and politics.  It is the premier international government simulation for high school students in the Middle East.HMC offers students the unique opportunity to assume the role of real life senators, congressmen, and international delegations as they engage in debate throughout the course of the three-day conference.  To assist the delegates, the dedicated Harvard students research and write briefings on each committee topic.  Students use these materials and the guidance of the staff to inspire debate, cooperation, and legislation. In creating an informed, intimate, and lively forum for debate, Harvard staff exemplifies professionalism while conveying a contagious enthusiasm for each topic. By keeping students focused and engaged, in hopes to broaden delegates’ awareness of the world, help them gain an understanding of the workings and principles of diplomacy and civic participation, and inspire them to discover their own leadership potential. By Krishna Shamji.
